      Message 2251:

TUESDAY 5 DECEMBER (evening): LONDON MOONLIGHT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA at ST. JAMES'S CHURCH, SUSSEX GARDENS, LANCASTER GATE (complimentary tickets, with NO BOOKING required)

The London Moonlight Symphony Orchestra has very kindly offered members of my group complimentary tickets for their concert on Tuesday 5 December, starting at 7.30pm at St. James's, Sussex Gardens (the Parish Church of Paddington). They are organising the concert to raise funds for the Grenfell Tower fire victims.

The Programme:  Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate (K. 165); Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major (K. 488); and, after the interval, part of Handel's Messiah (HWV 56). You can see these details at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/london-moonlight-symphony-orchestra-lmso-tickets-37565294808 and http://www.stjamespaddington.org.uk/event/christmas-concert . Printed programmes with full details will be available on the night. These will be free of charge, but donations will be warmly welcomed.

The Musicians:  The music will be performed by the London Moonlight Symphony Orchestra, a professional orchestra comprising around 45 UK-based musicians, including American soprano Lisa Digrandi and Portuguese soprano Isolda Da Costa Soares. Tze-Tien Huang will be flying in from her native Taiwan to be the soloist in the piano concerto. The orchestra will be conducted by British conductor Matthew Hardy ( http://www.eastlondonmusicgroup.co.uk/matthew-hardy-conductor ) and supported by St. Dominic's Sixth Form Chamber Choir.

The Venue:  St. James's, Sussex Gardens ( http://www.stjamespaddington.org.uk ), is the Parish Church of Paddington, but is slightly nearer to Lancaster Gate tube station (Central Line) than Paddington tube and railway station (Bakerloo, District, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Main Lines), both Zone 1. Click on http://tinyurl.com/jn2vuft to view a map. The postcode is W2 3UD.

Ticket Collection:  Nobody is available to deal with booking requests, so booking is not required (nor possible), but as there is good availability (up to 150 tickets) please do not let the lack of a booking facility deter you from attending. Look for my table with a sign saying "Ticket Collection for friends of Gordon Beal's". I will distribute tickets to my members and their guests on a first-come, first-served basis, between 7.15pm and 7.30pm.

Seating:  You can take your seats as soon as you wish after collecting your tickets. As they are unnumbered, those taking their seats early will have a better choice.

Summary of Timings:  Doors open and ticket distribution starts - 7.15pm; concert starts - 7.30pm; interval starts - about 8.20pm; second part of concert starts - about 8.40pm; concert ends - about 9.30pm

Retirement Collection for this Charity Event:  This concert is being organised in aid of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire through the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation ( https://thekandcfoundation.com ), and any amount you would like to donate during the retirement collection (on leaving the church after the concert) would be greatly appreciated, especially since we are lucky enough to be given complimentary tickets.
