Classical Music Platform has very kindly offered members of my group complimentary tickets for a concert at St. James's Church, Piccadilly, on Saturday 21 January, starting at 7.30pm.

The Programme:  We will hear a selection of the most beautiful works for violin and piano, as follows:
      1. Legende in G minor for Violin and Orchestra Op 17 - Henryk Wieniawski
      2. Méditation, from Thaïs Jules Massenet
      3. 6 Romanian Folk Dances Sz 56 - Bela Bartók
      4. 2nd movement: Canzonetta, from Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Op 35 Pyotr Tchaikovsky
      5. 1st movement: Allegro, from Sonata for Violin and Piano No 3 in D minor Op 108 Johannes Brahms
      6. Romance, from Violin Concerto No 2 in D minor Op 22 Henryk Wieniawski
      7. Carmen Fantasy for violin and orchestra Pablo Sarasate, on themes by Georges Bizet
There will be no interval. You can see the programme online at http://www.sjp.org.uk/evening-concerts.html or http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2594981 , and printed programmes will be available free of charge on the night.

Summary of Timings:  I will distribute tickets from 6.30pm until 7.25pm. The main hall will open at 7pm, and the performance will start at 7.30pm and end at about 8.40pm

      The Musicians:  Laia Montserrat ( http://www.laiamontserrat.com/biography )
was born in Barcelona in 1996, and started to learn the violin when she was 6. She moved to Germany at the age of 10 to continue her studies there, and she made her debut at New York's Carnegie Hall at the age of 14. Since then, she has performed regularly around the world and has won numerous prizes. She will be accompanied by British pianist Daniel Swain ( http://www.danielswain.com/biography.html ).

The Venue:  The address of the venue is St. James's Church, 197 Piccadilly, W1J 9LL. The nearest tube station is Piccadilly Circus (Piccadilly and Bakerloo Lines, Zone 1), but it is only slightly further from Green Park (Piccadilly and Victoria Lines).
Please note that there will be no service on the Jubilee Line (normally serving Green Park) between Waterloo and Wembley Park. You can view a map at http://tinyurl.com/33vem8 , or http://www.sjp.org.uk/find-us.html .

Ticket Collection:  Look for a table in the foyer with a sign saying "Ticket Collection for friends of Gordon Beal's". I will distribute tickets, on a first-come, first-served basis, between 6.30pm and 7.25pm. There is good availability (up to 150 tickets) and booking is not required (nor possible).

Caffe Nero:  There is a Caffe Nero adjoining the church, and, if you collect your tickets early, you may like to go there for a drink. However, this closes at 7pm. Alternatively, Costa Coffee, next door to the church, is open until 9pm. Please note that you will not be allowed to take your cups into the church.

Seating:  Seats are unnumbered, so those who take their seats early will have a better choice, but please note that you will not be able to access the main hall until 7pm.
