Plaint filed against govt servants contesting polls

PANJIM: Sandeep Heble, member of Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association, on
Friday filed a complaint to the presiding officer Nilkhant Signapurkar
against government servants who are contesting elections of the
executive committee of Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association (TTCA) without
obtaining the prior requisite sanctions from the government which is
mandatory under Central Civil Services (conduct) Rules.

The elections are scheduled to be held on March 17 at TB Cunha Hall,
      here, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“It is pertinent to note that some of those who have filed their
nominations have also been long standing members in the Goa Chess
Association (GCA) and have served in the executive committee of the
body for last around eight years, though guidelines issued by the
Government of India do not permit them to hold elective posts in such
sports associations for more than four years. These long standing
members have now filed their nominations for the important posts of
president, secretary and treasurer in the Tiswadi Taluka Association,
which is in complete violation of government rules and guidelines,”
      alleged Heble.

“As many as five state government employees and one central government
employee have filed their nominations to the nine posts in the
executive committee. Barring one NOC received from the central
government employee, the presiding officer has not received the
requisite sanctions from the other state government employees who are
contesting the association elections,” he disclosed.
