      I'm trying to track down why X frame rates seem to be so slow.
      XFree86Config-4 seems to show DRI being loaded, but glxgears and
      glxconfig both claim that DRI is *NOT* running. Tuxracer is impossibly
      slow.

      I've appended below what seemed (to me!) to be relevant. Have I
      forgotten anything?

      On a Duron 750 MHz, 256 MB, Libranet 2.8 (tracking sid), XFree86 4.3,
      xfce4.
