Subject: Wool Guilds in Tewkesbury area

      Dear Mr Dixon
I am a metal detectorist who spends a lot of my spare time searching farmlands in the Tewkesbury area currently I have permission to search on land in the village of Pammington.
Recently I found a curious lead object which I thought at first was a inscribed weight but it has been recorded with the finds Liaison officer for Gloucester, Kurt Adams and it is thought that it is wool seal dating to the 17th/18th Century. This is prompted by the deciphering of some of the text which reads as "Guild"

Can you perhaps direct me to where I might get further information on such "Wool Guilds" that might have been in existance in the Tewkesbury area at that time time. I can furnish photographs if this would help.

I look forward to your reply

      Keith L Willis
