I would very much like to be there, but on Friday I am taking my mother (who
lives in Cheshire) to hospital for some minor surgery, and I suspect I may
have to stay on for a day or two. I'm sure the event will be full of
interest (and of course I am keen to know how Leckhampton got on in the
website competition!). Amy Woolacott will be there to set up a stand with
some exhibits showing local sporting activities.

A reminder about the Local History Afternoon taking place next Saturday 7
October at Sir Thomas Rich's School, Gloucester.
Talks by Hugh Soar on the English Longbow and by Dr Francis Burns on Robert
Dover's Cotswold Olimpick Games. Presentation of the Bryan Jerrard award for
the best local history article published in Gloucestershire and a new award
for the best Local History Website. Many displays by societies on the theme
of the afternoon "Sport in Gloucestershire", book stalls, Gloucestershire
Archives, BGAS and many more.
Doors open at 1.15pm, first talk 2pm and entry £4 payable at the door
