      IEA LAUNCHES CLIMATE CHANGE
      AND RENEWABLE ENERGY WEBSITES
      __________________________________________

The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced on May 14 the launch of two
Web sites: "Dealing with Climate Change," and "Renewable Energy Policies
      and Measures in IEA Countries."

The first features data on energy-related policies and measures taken or
planned by the IEA's 26 Member countries to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions. It can be found at http://www.iea.org/envissu/pamsdb/index.html
      .

The second contains detailed references to some 160 pieces of legislation
worldwide designed to encourage the development of renewable energy
sources. It is located at http://library.iea.org/renewables/index.asp .

Visitors can search for information according to country, policy type,
technology, sector, year of implementation and other criteria.

These new interactive services are intended to complement the policy
analysis work carried out by the IEA on climate change mitigation and
renewable energy markets. They are part of the IEA effort to provide
support for decision-makers, policy experts, researchers and scholars, as
well as to provide practical information to the business community and the
      broader public.

Created in 1974, the IEA is an intergovernmental energy research and policy
forum for 26 industrialized countries. IEA member governments, working
with non-member countries, take joint measures to meet oil supply
emergencies, share energy information, and promote the integration of
energy and environment policies and development of rational, sustainable
      energy programs.
