- May 4, 2011Dean has been tapped to play the Dwarf Fili in Peter Jackson's production of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. Fili is one of a company of 13 Dwarfs who accompany Bilbo Baggins on his quest for the One Ring, guided by the wizard Gandalf. Jackson is turning the book into two movies, the first one scheduled to be released in December 2012. Fili's companion Kili is being played by Aiden Turner, star of the popular UK TV series Being Human.
