useful in other ways (the right monster for the right job. The kids
have a very different purpose as well that would be ruined by any
experimentation (and at worst their interference was just "not
grasping the situation").
Othar, well, I'll grant that he's someone that to know him is to hate
him. It's possible that Klaus may have just given up on trying to
kill him...it doesn't work, and attempting to brain core a force of
chaos is risky.
And we have heard of his harsh judgement in action. In Mechanicsburg,
there were a lot of lowlifes hanging on around the Castle gates, but
nobody really dangerous. Gamblers, grifters, small time thieves. And
he sends them into the castle where they'll probably die.
So while clearly Dr. Dim was not on Klaus's buddy list, I'm not sure
we can assume that he was evil incarnate. Dr. Dim said about the
teddy bears: "It's my last secret. He's taken all the others, but
not them! I've kept them safe." So, Dr. Dim had secrets. They might
have been bad secrets, secrets that Klaus needed to stop something
very bad. Or they might have been something that Klaus wanted for
whatever reason, Dr. Dim wouldn't give, and thus the brain coring.
Klaus did it for a reason, but I don't think we can assume that reason
is always truth, justice, and the Europa Way.
