- Jun 7, 2006It's Time For A Good Washing!!!
Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but
be filled with the Spirit;
19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church,
and gave himself for it;
26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water
by the word,
27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having
spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and
without blemish.
28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that
loveth his wife loveth himself.
29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and
cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the
church.
Titus 3
3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and
envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man
appeared,
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to
his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing
of the Holy Ghost;
6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs
according to the hope of eternal life.
8This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou
affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be
careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable
unto men.
We are living the one hundredth anniversary of what has been called
the Azusa Street revival, our the birth of the modern-day
Pentecostal church or outpouring. The Prophet Joel prophesied of
this occurance as being linked with the End Times or the Day of The
Lord, or the Return of our Savior, Jesus Christ:
Joel 2
1Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy
mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day
of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
11And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp
is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day
of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
12Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all
your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
13And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the
LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and
of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
14Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing
behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD
your God?
15Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn
assembly:
16Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the
elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let
the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her
closet.
17Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and
give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule
over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is
their God?
18Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.
19Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will
send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied
therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
20But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will
drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the
east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink
shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath
done great things.
21Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great
things.
22Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the
wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree
and the vine do yield their strength.
23Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your
God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will
cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter
rain in the first month.
24And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall
overflow with wine and oil.
25And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten,
the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great
army which I sent among you.
26And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name
of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my
people shall never be ashamed.
27And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am
the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be
ashamed.
28And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my
spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see
visions:
29And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days
will I pour out my spirit.
30And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood,
and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.
32And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name
of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem
shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom
the LORD shall call.
I believe this has a particular application to Israel and the
inhabitants of Israel in the End of Days, but also has application
to the present-day Church the Body of Christ that there would be a
Last Day Move of the Holy Spirit before Jesus returns. This however
has not "just" happened in the last 100 years but happened to the
Early Church on the day of Pentecost as Peter describes in the Book
of Acts, Remember it's time for a good washing:
4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they
should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the
Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with
the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying,
Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the
seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon
you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all
Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was
taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up,
behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into
heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,
shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Jesus, told them to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit. He
didn't really explain to them that they were going to be Born Again,
or become New Creatures In Christ, that was going to be the calling
and ministry of the Apostle Paul to the Early Church. He did tell
them that the Holy Spirit would come upon the giving them Divine
Power, Ability.
They would become witnesses of Jesus saving, filling, healing power
everywhere they went, because they were going to experience that
saving filling and healing power!!
Acts 2
1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with
one accord in one place.
2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty
wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and
it sat upon each of them.
4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
On the day of Pentecost, the rushing mighty wind of the Holy Spirit
came down upon them. Jesus had seated Himself at god's Right Hand
and had accomplished our redemption, our salvation and the Holy
spirit was released upon the Early church and innaugurated His
ministry to and through the Church. These cloven tongues appeared
on those that were praying in that upper room and they were all
filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as
the Spirit gave them utterance. There was not only a washing, there
were cloven tongues of fire!!
Many years ago my wife and I were traveling to another city to go
pass out tracts and evangelize that particular city, and on our way
there we saw many little flames of fire flickering out in a field by
a State park that we were driving by. We all have a "Green Light",
to go out to all the world and to share that saving cleansing power
of Jesus, to everyone we can, so let's go do it!! Sharing the
Gospel and salvation of Jesus is good, but we need to be regularly
washed too! Remember, its time for a good washing!!
5And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of
every nation under heaven.
6Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and
were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own
language.
7And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another,
Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in
Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about
Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the
wonderful works of God.
12And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to
another, What meaneth this?
13Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and
said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at
Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the
third hour of the day.
16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will
pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and
your old men shall dream dreams:
18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those
days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth
beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before the great and notable day of the Lord come:
21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name
of the Lord shall be saved.
22Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man
approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which
God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge
of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death:
because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always
before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be
moved:
26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover
also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou
suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me
full of joy with thy countenance.
29Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch
David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us
unto this day.
30Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an
oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh,
he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that
his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having
received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed
forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself,
The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God
hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and
Christ.
37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and
said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
what shall we do?
38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of
you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all
that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
40And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save
yourselves from this untoward generation.
41Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the
same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were
done by the apostles.
44And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Romans 12
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service.
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is
among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to
think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every
man the measure of faith.
4For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not
the same office:
5So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members
one of another.
6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given
to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion
of faith;
7Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth,
on teaching;
8Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do
it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth
mercy, with cheerfulness.
9Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good.
10Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in
honour preferring one another;
11Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in
prayer;
13Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but
condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the
sight of all men.
18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with
all men.
Notice in verse 2 of Romans 12. We are to be transformed by the
renewing of our minds, to know the perfect will of God. Now we can
see from Ephesians 5 and from Titus 3 that it is the Word of God
that washes us, but especially the Holy Spirit that washes us. We
are initially Born Again by the Word and regenerated by the Holy
Spirit, but also the Holy Spirit's work is to wash, and renew our
minds as well. As I said before, "It's time for a good washing!" We
need to get into the presence of God from time to time and let the
Holy Spirit wash those hurts, from our souls, to really wash, heal
those hurts from us! Especially in this time where there are
ministries where the holy Spirit is moving in a great way we ought
to avail ourselves of His washing and heal our minds and
personalities, and that is also a great part of our minds being
renewed. It's time for a good washing!!
Titus 3

2 Corinthians 3
1Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some
others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation
from you?
2Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all
men:
3Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of
Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit
of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of
the heart.
4And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of
ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of
the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the
spirit giveth life.
7But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones,
was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly
behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which
glory was to be done away:
8How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth
the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this
respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which
remaineth is glorious.
12Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of
speech:
13And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the
children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that
which is abolished:
14But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the
same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which
vail is done away in Christ.
15But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon
their heart.
16Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be
taken away.
17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty.
18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of
the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even
as by the Spirit of the Lord.
