Hollywood actor Gerard Butler is apparently looking to buy his own Scottish castle.

The Scots actor got the idea while attending a wedding last summer.

The Paisley-born star, who is thought to be worth £25million, has already started his property search.

The 45-year-old star already owns houses in New York and Los Angeles but says his heart belongs to Scotland.

He said: “I was recently back for a wedding in a castle and walking through the gardens inspired me to get a place like that.

“I made up my mind to do it. Scotland really is where my heart is.”

His mum, Margaret, lives in Perthshire and Gerard is looking for a home near her.

Margaret often accompanies her son to film premieres but is not impressed he is famous.

Gerard said: “It’s amazing how familial bonds just fall away and your mum pushes past you at a premiere because she wants to meet Hilary Swank. Of course, Hilary loved my mum. They all love my mum.”
