Thanks for sharing your Vines info. On January 15 Evelyn Hendricks had posed the question Who was the Samuel Vines who was buried near Stantonsburg in Greene Co. I was unable to answer her question, and I know she will be excited to finally have an answer. Thanks again.

I am interested in the Vines Family also. In my notes I have:
Capt. Samuel Vines, b. ca. 1686, d. March 17, 1741, aged about 55 years; md.
      ____ Thomson/Thompson FOREMAN, d. Oct. 15, ______. This comes from the
pieces of tombstones plowed up in the 1890's.
      They had about 8 children.
Their son: Col. Samuel Vines, b. June 20, 1716; m. _____. They supposedly
had a son, William Vines, b. July 20, 1745; m. _______. He had the son:
      Samuel Vines , b. Aug. 20, 1775, d. May 19, 1863; m. Mary May.

Another Son of Capt. Samuel Vines, was named William Vines. William md. at
least twice (according to a court case). By his second wife, Mary
      Wilkinson??/ McKeel??, they had a son Samuel Vines, b. Sept. 24, 1775, d.
Nov. 18, 1844 in Greene Co., NC; m. on July 21, 1811 in Edgecombe Co., NC to
Maria Brownrigg, dau. of George Brownrigg and his second wife, Obedience.
This Samuel Vines is the one buried several miles from Stantonsburg, NC, off
the old Sand Pit Road. The graveyard was once about 300 yards to the right
      of the Old Vines house.
