Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda is an award-winning science-fiction television series that starred Kevin Sorbo and was developed by veteran Star Trek writer/producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe, based on notes by late Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, and produced by his widow, Majel Barrett Roddenberry.



Sorbo starred as Captain Dylan Hunt, the only surviving captain of the great intergalactic government, the Systems Commonwealth. Stranded 300 years in the future, Captain Hunt travelled the galaxy in the starship Andromeda Ascendant with his rag-tag crew seeking to provide aid wherever needed all in the name of the recently restored Systems Commonwealth.



Co-starring on Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda were Lisa Ryder as first-officer Beka Valentine, Lexa Doig as the android avatar Andromeda, Steve Bacic as Nietzchean Telemachus Rhade, Brandy Ledford as the android Doyle, Laura Bertram as the mysterious Trance Gemini, and Gordon Michael Woolvett as the wise-cracking Seamus Harper.



Andromeda aired weekly in syndication, with its final season airing simultaneously on the Sci Fi (now SyFy) channel. The complete series was released on DVD in 2006 as Andromeda: The Slipstream Collection in Region 1, and as Andromeda: The Complete Boxset in Region 2.
