      Hi Debbie,

Have you tried writting a letter to social security. It takes a long time
to get a response but if you write ss enlcosing all the information you know
about her and write your grandmother a letter they will forward the letter to
her or the next of kin and it will be up to that person if they chose to
repsond. If ss has no next of kin then they will send you a lette back saying so.
I did it once trying to find someone and even though it took several months
I did get a response back.

Also you might have to go to Kansas there is a lot of information that is
public record like marriage licenses, property and you might be able to find out
if she married again or if she owned property. Sometime they will do a
record search over the phone if you get a nice enough person but dont count on it.
If they have everything computerized they can search by name. I did that
in Georgia once. Then once they gave me the information as far back as they
could go in the computer then I had to hit the books.

I hope this will help you.
      Tara
