I have been to many websites, including Ancestry, Rootsweb, FindAGrave, FamilySearch (LDS), Footnote (Pennsylvania State Archives Series - free), USWebGen, HeritageQuest, etc.  I have found that many sites, including those that claim to be "free" always lead back to Ancestry, unfortunately (and frustratingly).
The information I have found leading up to Jacob Arney, resides in his life in North Carolina.  I have found no real evidence of his life in Pennsylvania, except the notation of his son, Christian Arney, Sr. being born in York County, PA, in 1750.
Most of the Internet information ties Jacob Arney to Frederick Ernigh in Pennsylvania. However, if Frederick's son, Jacob, died in PA, then he could not also moved to North Carolina and die there.
Every lead I find on Jacob Arney, brings me back to this false conclusion, again frustratingly.
If the man (Dr. Tom Rider), who discovered this error, has given up hope of ever solving this mystery, should I too give up?

Hi Stan, welcome to the group. If you send out as much information as you have, Names, Dates, and Places, it will help us help you. some of us have Ancestry.com and can look there, I do. What web sites have you been to? Happy digging, Barb
