It's been 20+ years since I read Starship Troopers, (it's gathering dust with the rest of the books I don't have time to read/re-read) but I do remember the ST movie, (which I saw a couple years ago & I thought was decent in parts, but different from the book in others, just don't recall which parts) & there was a class on socialism toward the beginning of the movie. THAT was what I based my earlier comment on. Sorry for the confusion, long day, short night.

In what way is the Federation socialist? I don't think
there is anything socialist about it.

      Cheers,
