What a wonderful discussion page. I have just returned from Gabon in
March. I was serving in Franceville as a health volunteer when I
got evacuated because of the ebola outbreak. While in FCV I dealt
maily with AIDS education and family planing- mostly with the
student population. I taught classes at 3 different colleges and
formed a non profit organization with the teachers and student
called "A Nous les Jeunes!". I worked heavily with the students and
teachers and have many comments for your discussion about the
education system, Bob. But I think this time I just want to tell
you all a bit about myself. When I got evacuated to LBV, my fiance,
Scott came with me and we got married. Scott is a wonderful man,
half Gabonese half Congolese. He is an English teacher in one of
the schools where I worked. He is still in Gabon but he will be
joining me in the states soon.
I miss Gabon very much and I am glad to have a place to talk about
the issues that concern us there.
