With both gasoline prices and a nationwide heat index heading
into the stratosphere, EVA/DC members held an impromptu EV
demonstration for two Washington area TV stations in Arlington,
VA yesterday. Joe Lado's screaming yellow solar-powered Fiero
      conversion, Brian Murtha's silver RAV4-EV, Jay Grossman's
white Solectria Force and Dave Goldstein's and Victor Landa's
black and silver Jet Electrica (Mercury Lynx conversion) paraded
in front of the TV cameras for WUSA-TV Channel 9 (CBS)
and Cable News Channel 8 (ABC).

Amidst Washington's fierce summertime humidity and a 104
heat index, EVA VP Charlie Garlow, former EV News Editor
Lew Gulick and EVA's Brandon Martin joined with the EV
drivers to Joe, Bryan, Jay and Dave to answer questions from
      WUSA-TV's Anchor/Report Derek McGinty, including a
number of questions about the film, "Who Killed the Electric
Car?" and the new Tesla high performance electric roadster.

Nearby, Channel 8 filmed B-roll (video, no audio.) The video
was used during Channel 8's 4 p.m. TV call-in program, News
Talk with Bruce Depuyt, featuring Charlie Garlow and Dave
Goldstein -- where again, WKTEC was mentioned and EVA's
"dynamic duo" fielded questions about EVs, auto companies
and why EVs are not being widely-used by the Postal Service
("The reasons are administrative, not technical," said Dave.)
In front of a largely friendly call-in audience, Charlie scored
major points on the environmental benefits and the significant
improvements in EV and Plug-In Hybrids, while Dave spoke
to oil shortages, out-of-control gasoline prices and the business
      side of EVs and PHEVs.

We will review a copy of New Talk, courtesy of Lew Gulick,
at our next EVA/DC Meeting at the Chevy Chase, MD Library
      on Tuesday, August 15th at 7 p.m.

Derek McGinty's Channel 9 report is expected to run tonight,
Tuesday, August 1, on the local news between 5 and 6 p.m., or
possibly on Wednesday evening if there are other major news
      events.

Our thanks to all of the EVA/DC volunteers who took time
from work to be there for the media and to those who have
donated their time and EVs over the past several weeks to help
promote WKTEC at movie theaters in DC, MD and VA. And
again, thanks to Lew Gulick, who hosted lunch yesterday at a
nearby Mexican restaurant for a group of heat-stricken EVA/DC
      volunteers who gave their all!

      Regards,

      Dave Goldstein
      President, EVA/DC
      Washington, D.C.
