      In his book Oak, William Bryant Logan talks about finding some acorn
      "cakes" in an oriental grocery and eating some for breakfast, finding
      it not remarkable but realizing hours later that he was not hungry
      and had uncharacteristically skipped lunch. After some research he
      found acorn meal was known as a great survival food that offers
      long-lasting energy.
