Dear friends,,The vellore District which is a part of Northern Tamilandu faces acute shortage of water for Agriculture due to poor man made activities such as industrial activities(tanning industry, chemical industry, electro plating industry, sugar manufcturing industry, Hospital bio medical wastes, etc), digging of bore wells (400 - 1000 feet), feeling of tress for widening of National highways, discharge of municipal sewage, etc.,
Even central govt. programme NREGA is not linked with any agri activity.
Most part of this district is facing water problem including for drinking purpose is due to vanishing of native trees.
As many of our friends pointed out,  acute drought areas  Ananthapur district (Andra pradesh) ,VIDARBHA in (maharstra), are mainly due to poor mangement of man such as mono crops, feeling of trees, reduction in leguminious crops & trees, heavy application of chemicals, etc.,    Is very surprising in tamilandu, the government Agricultural officers now realised the importance of maure and insist of putting of mulching, application of cow dung, etc.,   Still it is long way to go ahead for us to achieve the NF Fukuoka'ian concepts to reach the government policy makers and politicians including farmers.
