Common Wealth Development regrets to announce that it is withdrawing its proposal to build an arts incubator facility at the site of the Garver Feed Mill in Madison’s Olbrich Park.
“In the current economic climate, we have been unable to secure the necessary private-sector funding needed to move the project forward,” said Marianne Morton, Common Wealth’s Executive Director. “We’re disappointed. We still think that there’s demand for a facility of this type.”
The proposed Garver Arts Incubator would have created and supported a community of working artists with affordable studio space and business services and also welcomed the public to watch artists at work, view gallery shows or enroll in art classes. Common Wealth has been working on the proposed Garver Arts Incubator since 2005.
Withdrawing the Garver Arts Incubator proposal will allow Common Wealth Development to focus on our other missions: affordable housing, job creation, business incubation and youth employment and financial literacy training.
“We would like to thank the many individuals and organizations that supported the Garver Arts Incubator”, Morton said.
