    Town and Country RC&D is sending this invitation to ag organizations, land trusts, lake groups, and environmental groups on the Rock River Coalition email list. The NRCS's new MRBI program will focus on the Rock, Sugar and Pecatonica basins in Wisconsin (map attached). Note this meeting will focus on the Rock River basin (minus the Crawfish). For those working in the Sugar or Pecatonica basins,
    Southwest Badger RC&D is hosting a similar meeting Jan 20 in Barneveld .

    Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative Partner Meeting

    Overview:

     

    To improve the health of the Mississippi River Basin, including water quality and wildlife habitat, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service is developing the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative (MRBI). Through this new initiative, NRCS and its partners will help producers in selected watersheds voluntarily implement conservation practices that avoid, control, and trap nutrient runoff; improve wildlife habitat; and maintain agricultural productivity. 

     

    The informational meeting is targeted to local, county, state, and non-profit organizations that have interest in implementing watershed projects in the selected Wisconsin MRBI watersheds which include the Pecatonica, Sugar River and Lower Rock.
