Blossom & Boomer --
Go to "Links" in the Friends of Deer club and enjoy the wonderful video of Blossom and Boomer.
About ten years ago, our member, Ann found a tiny, dehydrated and abandoned fawn on her property. Even though the creature was near death she managed to raise the fawn to maturity. All the area deer lovers in New Jersey knew of Ann and her Blossom. Even though the deer received quite a bit of publicity, it was never confiscated by NJ Fish and Game as was the case with other deer pets. Blossom was never kept in captivity and lived a dual existence – it picked up with a neighborhood deer herd and spent much time with Ann and her neighbors. Less than a year ago, Blossom was found dead on a neighbor’s property. Blossom had no wounds it was assumed that either she was poisoned or died of natural causes.
Ann also rescued another fawn that grew into a handsome buck. When Boomer was around 2 years old, he came home with serious wounds from a hunter. Ann nursed him back to health and like Blossom the buck returned to a semi-wild existence. Shortly after his initial wound and recovery he failed to return home and was presumed dead. The buck is also featured throughout the video.
Ann has put together a wonderful video and asks that its existence be known to as many people as possible. Deer can be wonderful creatures and Ann wants to world to remember Blossom.
