HOUSTON — A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty over the 2008 beheading of Mr. Buck, a tame deer that lived in a Houston wildlife sanctuary.

Sentencing is scheduled Nov. 18 in Houston for Brandon Eugene Gregory. Gregory on Wednesday pleaded guilty to taking a wildlife resource without landowner consent, a state jail felony.

He faces 180 days to two years in jail and a fine ranging from $1,500 to $10,000.
The remains of child-friendly Mr. Buck were discovered last Nov. 25 at Bear Creek Pioneers Park.
A tip led to Gregory. Investigators say the deer's severed head was found in a freezer at Gregory's home.
