Group Description

This list is dedicated to the propagation and improvement of the French Marans Chicken, in The Americas.

We are breeders, growers and affectionados of the breed. Our goal is to achieve recognition, for the breed, by the American Poultry Association. To further this cause we support any and all efforts to achive this goal.

We believe that by sharing information, experiences(Good & Bad) and stock we can and will improve the breed and bring it into line with the French Standard.

POLICY STATEMENT

New members posts are fully moderated, until such time that they demonstrate sanity and reliability.

If you assail another member’s character or actions, you will be warned once privately.

If you have had a bad or less than positive experience with another breeder or hatchery, share it. You may do so without being sarcastic or demeaning.
We, as breeders, need to know who we can trust.

Raising chickens in general, such as pens, medications, light, breeding methods, weather, breed history, incubating and brooding are topics that we are all interested in.

All members, from beginners to Veterans, are welcome to ask questions and/or make statements relating to the breed and its improvement.

Breeders, small or large, are encouraged to list your birds and or equipment that you wish to sell. There are no restrictions, as to time or day.

Go to the BREEDERS FILE and list your name and contact information, along with what you wish to sell.

Please post PHOTOS, in an album, so we may admire your birds and/or equipment set up.

Everyone is welcome to join and participate in discourse on French Marans Chickens.

We wish to promote a wider acceptance of this breed, by main stream
poultry enthusiasts.

The large size and rapid growth,
of this breed, makes them a good choice for meat chickens.
The large very dark brown eggs are beautiful to behold.
They are definately gentle giants, in personality, and can become
pets.
