ALERT: Killington Town Meeting: 10AM Tomorrow!!!!
- Okay, the Killington Town Meeting is at 10 AM in the morning TOMORROW
(Tuesday) NOT in the evening. We really need to mobilize for this.
FSP mobilization point: McDonald's Parking lot, two blocks south on Rt
12A off Exit 20 on I-89. This is West Lebanon, right on the
Departure time: 8:15 AM. If you want to grab some breakfast in West
Lebanon, plan on arriving earlier (1-2 hours). There is a Denny's, the
McD's, Burger King, Wendy's, and Friendly's, all within a block of each
other. The drive to Killington is about 50 minutes from W Lebanon,
possibly more depending on the conditions of the roads.
Route: From West Lebanon, get on I-89 north, across the river into
Vermont. Exit 2 in Vermont is the Queechee exit. Get off there and turn
left at the end of the ramp onto Route 4. Follow Route 4 through
Queechee, Woodstock, and Taftsville to Killington. You will go past the
village of Sherburne Center and turn left onto West Hill Road. Drive
straight on this, 0.4 miles, Turn LEFT to stay on W HILL RD. 0.2
miles, Turn LEFT onto KILLINGTON RD. 0.3 miles, Turn RIGHT onto
SCHOOL HOUSE RD. <0.1 miles. Look for the Elementary School, park in
the parking lot, and hunt up other FSP people.
WHAT TO BRING: If you have FSP brochures (we need these printed), pins,
porcupines, banners, anything of that sort, or if you just want to
bring a sign to voice your support. We are taking the position that we
are supporting the towns choice, however it votes to go. PLEASE dress
nicely, even professionally. NO CAMO or Militia type stuff (that may
have it's place within a few months, but it is entirely inappropriate
There will be major media coverage of this event, we need everyone
looking presentable, personable, and not loud or aggressive. If anyone
gets cornered by the media for quotes, make sure you say "in my
opinion". If asked about group policies, or presented with the typical
trap questions, please direct them to myself, Jim Maynard, or any of
the FSP leadership that shows up.
If the vote to secede passes, then I will likely be making a
presentation of a New Hampshire state flag to the town manager in a
NOW: This is Town Meeting. This day belongs to the people of
Killington, NOT to us. We need to make this clear. We are simply there
as observers. NOBODY should engage in the Town Meeting discussion
unless they are themselves a Killington resident, or are specifically
prompted by the Town Meeting Moderator or other town leaders to make a
statement. Treat this as an excellent opportunity to observe small town
New England political process at work. Observe and learn.
