      Self study is Ashiata Shiemash of HARMLESSNESS

      TO THE READER OF THIS POST:

      It should be obvious to anyone here
      that quoting from Gurdjieff's expositions
      is a method, that there is method in this,
      and with progression of any method you
      have real remorse of Conscience which
      is a guide for us. But, according to the
      principle of itoklanotz, we forget, and
      this has happened to us all, you are
      not the only one this has happened to.
      It is from this we can know that not only
      is all of life our teacher, as Gurdjieff has
      said, but also that we are students of
      ourselves, what is self-study.

      People lose their energy because
      somebody else irritates them in
      some way. The idea is to be able
      to observe mechanical suffering
      as it is without reacting or
      disapproving, and then
      energy is retained. Energy
      is reserved for suffering on
      a greater scale and this is a
      sign of greater being than the

      ordinary.

      The life-of-itself person suffers
      constantly because it seems to that
      person that other people do not
      behave as they should and then
      the energy bleeds by way of
      inner accounts. Real
      suffering brings
      positive emotion . . .
      an opening of 
      the heart.


      It means that if one can suffer 
      from the heart because of real
      things, because of the psychological
      state of the sleeping man who is not
      as he should be, then one no longer
      has need to suffer, because one is
      no longer in that psychological
      place. The outer man of 
      ordinary life of itself suffers
      continually because, to him,
      it is always other people who
      don't behave rightly and energy
      is constantly draining from him,
      from her, but what happens if he
      moves inwards? Once you can 
      suffer from the heart it is not
      to suffer through "reaction"
      to other's mechanicalness. To
      open yourself to real and conscious
      suffering in this way means that your
      heart is opened. Whenever your own
      self-love is implicated then it means
      that you are not suffering from the
      heart. You suffer from the heart
      only when you are not 
      automatically reacting.
      When the outer man of 
      ordinary life "reacts", that
      is, mechanically suffers,
      not real and conscious,
      there is always self-interest
      in it, the self-interest of the
      hasnamuss. And such an
      outer man is completely
      unconscious of the fact
      of his mechanical 
      suffering, imagining
      that he is "doing good"

      by his reactions.

      It is in connection with 

      the center-of-gravity idea:

      Conscious evolution of humanity is 
      the continuous progression of the
      incarnation of God on the earth.

      There was an occasion when I 
      was in such an emotionally intense 
      and expansive state of consciousness 
      as to see a ball of energy, or thought 
      form, descend from Above and wrap 
      itself around me and blew itself up in 
      the middle of my heart and for the 
      split second during the moment of 
      eruption of energy from my heart 
      area .  .  . for that split second, I was 
      conscious and present in an 
      entirely different dimension
      of reality by way of which a 
      certain kind of knowledge imprinted
      itself in crystalline form, 
      it had the 
      appearance to my "inner vision" of 
      something like a blueprint, or plan
      I then snapped back and Deep Love 
      roared like a soft, but gentle, and
      powerful "wave", like a wave from
      the "fathomless ocean" from out of me 
      everywhere, the people immediately 
      around me did not see or notice 
      anything whatsoever. In such states, 
      involuntary manifestations are 
      difficult to contain and the 
      ability to contain involuntary 
      manifestations is an acquired
      ability which develops Real 
      Will. 

      It is these things I have seen that 
      have formed themselves into a
      diamond crystalline, a sort of
      "enneagramatic" form in the 
      middle of my forehead, blue
      in color.

      Following a fourth way method 
      such as is possible on the internet 
      can help with integrating and
      crystallizing the higher materiality 
      of higher, or finer, states of 
      consciousness stored somehow 
      in the physical nervous
      system having to do with the 
      intense "shock" at the time of 
      "life changing" events.

      It has been a deep weakness of
      mine to place myself in positions 
      of danger everywhere in ordinary 
      life and this is the beloved thing 
      that I have been forced to use as 
      a reminding factor in the same 
      way Gurdjieff made use of abilities, 
      depraved to the core, in telepathy 
      and hypnotism for such things as 
      food and sex. 

      It is an extraordinary event 
      to see the possibility of your 
      own physical death directly "in 
      the face", to sit in that state where 
      there can be no fear, and feel
      yourself in the presence of 
      Higher Will and then it is 
      entirely up to "that" Higher
      Will to ease your passage 
      through the gate or send 
      you back with the physical 
      body rebalanced and 
      renewed.

      What is Aim:

      What was the aim
      of Gurdjieff's
      teaching?


      By means previously
      thought out by him
      first in theory
      and then in
      practice in
      which Gurdjieff
      decided to develop
      a whole body of ideas,
      there were three essential
      tasks he had set himself the
      first of which by way of the
      first series of his writings
      was to destroy in people
      everything that in their
      false representations in
      terms of life-of-itself
      appears to exist in
      reality for them
      but does not or,
      in the words of
      Gurdjieff, "to
      sweep away without
      mercy all of the rubbish
      accumulated in human mentation
      over the ages," by way of the
      second series of his writings
      to prepare "new constructional
      material," and by way of the
      third series "to build a
      new world."
