- There's a very nice and civilized ride coming up this Sunday.
The first Sunday of the month is the regular Retro-Ride when a bunch
of collectors get out their finest old race-bikes and and do a ride
from the Rose Bowl, down the Arroyo, out eastwardly, then up through
Arcadia to Beantown in Sierra Madre for brunch. Campy Nuvo Record
friction-shifters, wool jerseys and old track bikes show up including
some truly amazing and rare antiques. It's mostly slow due to a lot
of talking and hardware-admiration but the pace is steady. People
come from San Diego, Santa Cruz and sometimes even riders from
snow-bound back East show up for this Ride.
Although you don't absolutely have to have a classic old bike to do
the ride, you do have to like 'em. But if you have an old bike or a
wool jersey, bring it on out.
The Retro-Ride gathers up at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center at around
10:30 every first Sunday of the month, rolls out about 11:00.
