The first art exhibit is at the Acorn Gallery, and features photos of art bikes from around the world, and homegrown art bikes and bike sculptures made by local artists.
The second is at Flor y Canto Centro Comunitario & Bookstore, and is called "Recognize: Snapshots of Los Angeles Bike Riders" a documentation featuring photos and interviews with some of the Workers, Youth, and Free Spirits that peddle daily throughout the city.
Join us for the joint Opening party June 4th, 7 to 11 pm
Acorn Gallery*, 135 N. Avenue 50
Flor y Canto, 3706 N. Figueroa
both in Highland Park, just a short bike ride apart.
*The Acorn Gallery exhibit will be open every Sat. and Sun. in June from noon to 4:00 pm.
And the day after the Opening party, get up early and take a ride on the wild side:
Ghost Town Showdown at the Rio Hondo Ride,
Meet at Mudpuppy Café, 4219 N Figueroa Ave. Highland Park
9:00 am (arrive before 8:30 for a free cup of coffee)
Take a 35 mile ride through the Sunday morning quiet of LA's industrial middle, followed by a river ride up the Rio Hondo.
Bring lunch and lots of water.
