The discussion about this "hen" as a new Swedish neutral pronoun in
"The Local" shows how excited people can get about being non-sexist.
The Turks never had anything else but a neutral third-person singular
pronoun ("on"), but this does not prevent them having a
male-dominated, female-discriminating culture. Brave Swedes, they try
so hard to do better. Alas, changes in language will hardly ever
change the mental setup. But it is true that having a gender-neutral
pronoun might make life easier, technically. No more "he or she".
