Flight of the Phoenix - 2004
"A group of air crash survivors are stranded in the Mongolian desert with no
chance of rescue. Facing a brutal environment, dwindling resources, and an
attack by desert smugglers, they realize their only hope is doing the
impossible... building a new plane from the wreckage of the old one."
********* Good picture, I was surprised later on cos' I read a couple of
reviews that were trashing the film. Oh, it wasn't the best of all times, but
it was still a decent effort. In the same category, 'Alive' (1993) is far
superior of course but this one is still worth watching. Dennis Quaid, it's
always nice to see him on the big screen, seems like a really nice guy, even
though here, his character starts out being kind of a jerk.
Good special effects when the plane is caught in that sand storm too. I
haven't seen the original made in the 60's I believe, apparently it's even
better. Good soundtrack as wellwith some rockin' tunes ... 'Gimme some lovin'
by the Spencer Davis group ... I've been everywhere by Johnny Cash, Night Rain
by The king of Soul, James Brown, etc.
"The alarm went off, okay. When an alarm goes off,
you got an average of four minutes response time.
Unless a patrol car is cruising that street, at
that particular moment, you got four minutes before
they can realistically respond !! In one minute
there were seventeen blue boys out there !! All loaded
for bear, all knowing exactly what the f*ck they were
doing, and they were all just there !! Remember that second
wave that showed up in the cars ?? Those were the ones
responding to the alarm - but those other motherf*ckers
were already there !! THEY WERE WAITING FOR US !!"

"The thing under my bed waiting to grab my ankle isn't real.
I know that, and I also know that if I'm careful to keep
my foot under the covers, it will never be able to grab
