Will the new Dell P4 Machines support the Expanded
- Memory requirements of family search? i am going to buy some new
machines for our center and want to buy either the dell p4 or celeron
dimension machines and want to make sure that they will work with
family search. i called dell and couldn't find anyone who knew what
i was talking about.
do any of you have info on this?
- While the Dell folks will not know FamilySearch, eventually you should
be able to reach someone that can address the EMS question. The
Optiplex GX50's that we have support it with no problem. Since most new
computers will ship with XP, this page at fhctech.org should also help,
although I wish the *additional steps* needed if the EMS option is
grayed out were included. http://www.fhctech.org/applications/fsxp.htm
Along with the DOS FamilySearch program, you will need a minimum of 128
megs of RAM for TempleReady for Windows. I'm sure you know however that
centers are not authorized to purchase computer equipment out of their
local funds. I found that out after the fact. It will be a question on
the semi-annual audit.
