The problem is not PRF disc 92, rather the problem is the
workstation setup. The clue is the first part of the message
statement "cannot read from hard disk", followed by a path to the
data file which is incorrect. (You should be expecting to see the
mapped drive letter in the path shown.)

          The most likely cause(s):
          1. The workstation was not installed via the mapped drive letter.
          2. The Network Key was not run, allowing PRF to be read over the
          network.

          To fix:
          1. Uninstall the workstation setup. This includes deleting
C:\PRFViewer folder on the workstation if it still remains.
          2. Reinstall via the mapped drive letter and run the Network Key.
          Try the workstation again.

          3. If after this there is still a problem, consult the
troubleshooting section in the server installation instructions.

Note: The documentation for server and workstation setup is updated
with each release of Pedigree Resource File Master Index. It can
be found on the root of the disc. Filename: PRFNVinstructions

We recieved this message initially because PRFViewer wasn't mapped
correctly to the network resource. Some times I would accidentaly
install the client (PRFViewer) from the UNC path rather than the
mapped drive, and that caused this problem. There is an .ini file that
specifies where PRFViewer points to for its database. I think it is
progeny.ini, and is located in the program folder. Verify that this
.ini specifies the mapped drive letter, not a UNC path.
As Gary said, this could also be because your database is corrupted.
If your problem isn't solved, post some more info for us--like
whether or not your trouble is in a limited user account only or in
all user accounts, or if the trouble is only with one cd or all cd's,
or if the problem occurred only when transferring from the MI to a CD
--not directly accessing a cd, or if some workstations work and others
don't, etc. These are all problems that have cropped up for us. We
have 3 computers that have never worked correctly with PRFViewer--at
least at one time. It seems like every month there is a different
problem that prevents each from accessing PRF. I've decided to wipe
them out and use a Hardware Indepenant Image that I've created and
image them with that image, because even after thorough searching I
still haven't found what makes them different from some of our other
computers that are more or less identical. Oh well. Computer woes go
            on :-)

            Good luck,

Your problem is NOT a corrupted disk, it is an outdated index file.

I had the same problem. You probably have a bad catalog.txt file:
              Documents and Settings/(your log on)/Local
setting/Applications/Progeny/PRF/CATALOGG.TXT. You will need to un-hide
the directory and have security privilege to edit the file. Copy this
file from a machine that works and all should be OK. Do a search
in the FHCtech email list for "prf problem" messages. The solution is
              there. Hank

                    Enter 2 when they answer.
Their hours are Mountain Daylight Savings Time:
