Hi, my name is Jo, and I have a cat named Trouble, a white OSH who
has been diagnosed with ocular Herpes. We just returned from the
specialist and are waiting for results of the tests.

In a nutshell, he was born with a membrane over his entire left eye.
His breeder had her vet do surgery to remove most of the membrane so
he can see. He has been ok, but now he is in a flare and he has quite
      an ulcer on his cornea.

we just changed medications so we are hoping that these will work. He
had been on Trifluridine, terramyacin and articifical tears. Also
continues to be on Acyclivor (sp?)oral and L-Lysine 500 Mg daily.

The specialist this morning changed him top Idoxuridine, and
Chlorampenicol drops TID. He did two PCRs and sent them to Arizona,
so we won't know for two weeks precisely what is going on.. Herpes
alone or Herpes and Chlamydia. He did a Conjunctival Cytology also,
and I should get the results of that today or tomorrow.

I am concerned about losing sight, or worse, losing the eye. I did
not talk to him about Coloidal Silver yet, just waiting here to get a
really positive diagnosis. The doctor said that this was a bad flare.

I live in Central Florida and this little guy is about two years old,
and a sweeter cat I have yet to meet. He is a while Oriental
      Shorthair neuter.

      Thanks for any help here.

      Jo and Trouble.

        Hi Jo
Trouble is a great name..it sounds as if he has quite a personality.
There is something about a herpes cat that makes them just so sweet.
I tried colloidal silver on Snowy but didn't see any results. I did
see results when I switched to a higher quality food. I switched him
and Yuki from Innova to Wysong. His tear staining dramatically was
reduced. A lot of people on the group also give supplements. I give
Yuki olive leaf extract-vetri science when she has urinary infection
bouts which might be herpes related...many give nu cat...Snowy does
better when I give him flaxseed with cottage cheese.
He hasn't been on antibiotics in so long. I bought NAC for him but
haven't given it to him yet. I am afraid the stress of pilling him
might cause another flareup..currently he just has mild flareups.
        His symptoms were mainly respiratory.
        Hope this helps
        Bobby
