- I don't know what the atenolol pills are like, but
I have experience with cutting Norvasc pills, which
love to splinter. I had gotten pretty good with the
pill cutter, but still decided to try the tweezer
method when someone mentioned it. It is MUCH better,
at least for Norvasc pills.
To recap the method: Get tweezers with blunt/flat (not
slanted) ends, with ends as wide as possible. Grasp
one half of the pill in the tweezers, blades at the
middle of the pill. Grab the other side of the pill
with your fingers, and snap it in two. It makes a
nice clean break. With the Norvasc, I do this to
make halves, and then break halves into quarters.
Occasionally the pieces aren't perfectly half, but
no more splinters!
