Re: anyone used acepromazine?
- Received a message from a cardiologist prof at UC Davis Vet School
thought I would post in case anyone else runs into the same issue. He
said that if a cat truly has mitral valve prolapse, not caused by
other heart condition (such as HCM), then acepromazine would be okay.
However, if a cat has HCM, it could, in theory, cause problems. I
my cat doesn't have HCM, but I don't know (and neither did the vet)
whether the mitral valve is damaged from another heart condition, so
I'm staying away from it. I really wish I had a cardiologist in my
area -- an internal med specialist diagnosed my cat and didn't give
too many details.
