Re: [FH] Urgent help needed (Ontario, Canada)
- hi. i am not local but wanted to just say it may not cause any issues missing a couple doses of vetmedin. My kitty went on strike when I had to travel for business and that is the one pill she ended up not getting. all the others were more important like her lasix so that is what she received while I was away a couple days. I was so worried but the cardiologist told me not to panic. did u speak with ur cardiologist about this? maybe they can ease ur mind some. hope u can locate the pills soon.

Subject: [FH] Urgent help needed (Ontario, Canada)
I have a 12 and 3/4 year old Cornish Rex, Bane, who was diagnosed with CHF at the very end of July, 2012. He was given an"optimistic prognosis" of 6 months. He is my world, and I am doing everything I can to keep him with me. So far, so good. :)
He is on several medications, some of which he takes twice a day, some once a day, and another one that he takes once every three days.
Here is my problem: I ordered a prescription refill for Bane's Pimobendan, Vetmedin 0.625mg capsules (which he takes twice a day), as I always do, via the vet's website, well in advance of my needing it. I didn't get a pick up call, and when I called the vet, I was told that the order had not come in. To boot, I only had one capsule left, and they won't even get the prescription in until"maybe" tomorrow.
I had them call the emergency hospitals and the vet college in Guelph, but no one has any on hand.
Bane has not had this morning's capsule, and I am absolutely desperate and freaking out about it. I am in tears. I don't want to lose him because of this!
The only thing I could think of was to appeal to this group to see if there is anyone in the area (say the GTA, and up to the Guelph, and even Kitchener area) who has a cat who istaking this medication at this dosage and has three or four capsules that I could borrow until Bane's prescription comes in. I would be willing to come pick the capsules up, and I would, in return, drop off the"pay back" capsules, so as not to cause any inconvenience to the person making the loan.
Please, if anyone can help, message me ASAP.
Thank you does not even come close to covering it.

- HiI`m in the UK so I can't help. I would get the phone number of the supplier and be on to their customer support telling them this is urgent. Pimobendan is also called Vetmedin / Cardisure so maybe that is available. The manufacturer in Canada is here. http://www.boehringer-ingelheim.ca/en/contact.htmlYour other alternative is to ask if it is a human prescription too. I dont know if it is where you are. If it is you can take your vet prescription to the pharmacy for it. There are also online pet pharmacies selling it in Canada (search pimobendan canada) but I dont know which are genuine. Those who take a prescription usually are. One might be near you or able to ship it 24 hrs.Lyn
