      Hello,

Unfortunately, or I should say, luckily I dont have cancer experience in cancer in cats..
I get to know different sicknesses as the cats I look after get them.
A lot of them strays, some adopted.. Aslan was my boy.. I have learned fiv felv fip from strays..  crf and dcm from Aslan and some strays.. I hope I do not learn more but I guess its inevitable, soon I will probably learn more..

      thank you for your prayer...
      I pray for Kalysta, too..
Its probably better if you post to the group seperately.. Since I wrote a OT post, it may not get much attention and your question may get few answers..

      regards,

      >What about the addition of prednisolone to a chemo protocol in the event of a lymphoma relapse? My girl, Kalysta, has been in remission from large cell for over 5 years now, and she was just diagnosed with HCM a couple of weeks ago. Apparently she is in the beginning stages of HCM, and a relapse of lymphoma is always possible. This new oncologist said that if that ever happened I could do a steroid course only (NOT) or do a more aggressive protocol. New vets do like to talk down to new clients sometimes, huh? From what I could tell, I have more experience with the Mad-WI aggressive chemo protocol than she does. (Steroids only is not a chemo protocol, geesh.)

      >Hello All,

      >Its been a while since I wrote this group. I could not find the strength to follow fellow heart kitty stories, after Aslan passed away in April.
      >But I couldnt help but share... Tomorrow is a bad day.. It will be 1 year since the vet has given my Aslan - a heart kitty- a long acting depomedrol shot.
      >Although I am a very educated owner (sometimes more educated then some vets around here), I then wasnt aware of the fact that cortisone steroids are very very bad for the heart muscle..
      >Normally, I do not trust every vet and I go with the specialist. This was the Rx of a specialist.

      >After that shot Aslan declined rapidly. He was ok one day and fighting for his life the next.. After a few months, he died gasping for breath..

      >PLEASE DO NOT let your vet give streoids to your heart kitty..
      >I had bought ICU for him, a small chamber.. I took leave of absense to better care for him. etc ... so I feel extra extra bad.. I was so good with extenting his life.. I was doing so good. That shot took his months.. That shot took him away.

      >I miss him terribly still.
      >Not even half a day passes without his memory..
      >I hope yours life many many years..

I am so sorry about your kitty. I know how it hurts. I too had this
happen. My cat had a bad foot and when she got her shots they gave her
        a shot of
This. She started breathing hard they said it was her allergic to the
yearly shot it would pass. It didnt. EKG well an echo was more in
line. By the time we were at the emergency vet there want enough time
to get her to Purdue we didnt know she had HCM. I have very stricked
orders no depo shots on my felines unless I say its ok. I myself have
DCM and my cardiologist told me no steroids unless its is life or
death. Now one of my kitties had fiv and he had cancer and he had a
good heart so I let them give him some. It is very hard to get over
this and I dont know if you do as you are their moms and you call the
shots for their health and sometimes we get it wrong. Just like people
it was there time. It is very hard. God bless. Janie
