Please take him to the emergency vet now. He may be blocked which is an
absolute emergency, my cat had that on several occasions. Male cats can block
in their urethra and that prevents them going to the toilet. It's vital
      they are seen quickly.

Has he urinated at all yet today? If it was just the firm poop and vomit (btw, what consistency was the vomit? hairball, food, bile?), I would say constipation but not urinating could be blockage which is very serious and would need to be taken to the ER right away.
        Keep us posted,

I joined this post 3 years ago when Mr. Kitty was diagnosed with HCM. He was in critical condition at the time and the members of this blog were instrumental in his survival so I am am pleading for your help once again..

About 4 days ago I noticed while Mr. Kitty was still having bowel movements they were quite dried out which is very abnormal. Kitty is currently and has been on a very low oral dose of lasik for the past three years so he typically drinks a lot of water and uses the bathroom very regularly especially after receiving his medication. He was still using the bathroom so I was not concerned but began to watch his a bit more closely. I noticed Saturday morning (yesterday)when I awoke that he did not use the bathroom even to urinate and this struck me as very unusual. I thought maybe he had a problem with the perfectly clean litter box so I changed in out for him but he still would not use it. Saturday morning he was extra frisky and needy which not only I noticed but my family members pointed out also. Throughout the day I kept placing him in the litter box hoping he would use the bathroom but he would not. He was still drinking water, frisky, and grooming himself. By night time I began to feel some panic....realizing these were the signs before he got really sick and diagnosed with HCM the first time.

IN order to keep his fluids up and get some food in his system as he stopped eating that morning I got him a can of wet food. He approached the wet food excitedly and threw up as soon as he smelled it. I spend the night watching him. He stayed by my side and did not move which again was abnormal. I woke up a few hours ago to him leaving the end of my bed and was hoping he was going to use the restroom except I heard his dry heaving although nothing came out. PLease give me some advice on what I should do. Also, I recently moved home and no longer have access to the specialists who say him so many years ago. I did take him to a vet 2.5 hours from here 3 years ago and am considering taking him there. Although I would spend every dime I have on him, I am currently unemployed and would like to be as educated as possible before I bring him in to a new vet so I can ask the proper questions and get him the help he needs.
        Thank you.
