I would call to check-if it s not too late-to see why he d have to fast.  I would also make sure that they DO NOT sedate him for the echo. It s unnecessary

I would call to check-if it's not too late-to see why he'd have to fast.  I would also make sure that they DO NOT sedate him for the echo. It's unnecessary and ill advised for a heart patient. Refuse to let them sedate him for an echo.   Did they say they wanted to draw blood? Some tests require fasting or NPO for 8-12 hrs.

Go ahead and feed him since he can't be sedated for an echo unless blood is to be drawn. But if that's the case, then yes, if he's NPO, it means he can't eat past 3:45 a.m.   You could just feed him before bedtime or leave out food at bed time, whatever you think he'd eat by 3 a.m.  I wouldn't get up to feed him although that's very thoughtful of you!

Always a wise plan to go with the specialist. Martha is a holy terror at the vet s, scaring everyone within miles. But she s never had to be sedated for echo.
