No cardiologist or vet has ever encouraged me to use CoQ or nattokinase.
The cardiologist was of the opinion COQ would do no harm and mine have been
on it for five years plus. As both my poorliest cats, Milli and Trixi were
given only a short while to live, as kittens 5 years ago, it certainly
hasn't harmed them.
The cardiologist could not recommend nattokinase for Milli. It was not
heard of and they were worried about the risk of a cerebral bleed. But all the
studies say that only happens if you mix it with aspirin or plavix. Mine
have been on nattokinase for about 2 years now with no ill effects. In Japan,
people take it daily for years as a supplement.
So vets will not tend to recommend holistic treatments at all. Because
there has been no clinical trial and no evidence it works in cats in the
veterinary records. For me, both supplements have worked well.
