To join fanciershealth, just go to http://www.yahoogroups.com and search for fanciershealth -- and then join. Our HCM discussion is still going on, and it's in much more detail than anything we have on the feline-heart list. I recommend that everybody join, and then check the archives for the last week -- so much extremely valuable information has been posted on Fanciershealth. I cannot repost all of it on our list -- but it's well-worth your time go to there and read them. You can quit it or go on no-mail after this HCM discussion is finished --

Can you send me the link? Might join but not sure. I'd like to but I subscribe to 7 yahoo groups on feline health already but I love learning this stuff. Another person said this group is full of lots of information about lots of stuff. Thanks.

        Hi
        This is an advanced notification.

We are in the process of setting up DNA research into heart problems in Birmans and a charity where you can send donations. a bit like the Bria fund for FIP. We will need to raise at lease $7,500 for the research to begin. We are in contact with Winn and it looks promising we can set up a special fund with them them. We have already raised the first $1,498.06 but it will take a lot of effort from us all to keep money coming in.

For the moment though please can I ask you ALL to take swab samples from ALL your cats and kittens. Place each swab in a clean envelope with the cats name written on it. Store the swabs in a safe place and we will give you the address to send them too very soon. It is likely to be Bristol University in the UK unless we are notified of an additional University in the US. If you have a cat diagnosed with a heart condition by a cardio specialist please can you mark that envelope that the cat has the condition. Try to get a copy of the scan result and relevent papers so you can send these together with the swab sample once we know just where you need to send them.

        Alwyn
