I am so sorry to hear about Joel --- he was so blessed to have you to take care of him, especially during his illness. In return, he gave you all his love.

Just to let everyone know Joel, aka BJ, my kitty with tetralogy of fallot and
the neuro complications, died yesterday morning. I was urging him to drink some
water and he either aspirated or had a small stroke. I was in the process of
loading up a kitten to take to my vet for neutering, so I bundled Joel up and
took him along. He was breathing about 5 minutes before we got to the clinic,
but he was gone by the time I got him inside. They are doing an in-house
necropsy as they were interested in the ToF. It would be good if they could
find whatever was causing the neuro issues but that doesn't see likely (to me,
        anyway).

My sincere thanks to everyone who offered advice and words of encouragement.

        RIP brave little boy!

        Mary Ann

ps - We did see a neurologist last Thursday and changed meds. The specialist was very puzzled by the neuro symptoms and without an MRI didn't find anything remarkable on exam. He didn't think that Joel was a good candidate of anesthesia which the MRI would have required. An xray did show that Joel was missing his 12th or 13th vertebrae which cause the neurologist to comment that cats with one anomaly often have others.

I am so sorry to hear Joel has passed and is at the Rainbow Bridge. He was
a very brave kitty and blessed to have someone who loved him dearly. He is
at peace now and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
