Lyn's right, HCM can be secondary to hyperthyroidism.Is the effusion chylous? Rutin is safe. I have a kitty, Kensington who takes it along with Lasix and Spiro and his pleural and chest effusion has now resolved. He is also hyper-t, has HCM and a tumour, but against all odds, he is stable and doing quite well.
