Thank you everyone for the advice and good thoughts! Our little guy is sleeping
off his subQ fluids and evening meds at the moment - the good thing is that
since we started the phenobarbital, he has seemed to be able to relax and rest
and has actually been more himself.

Brandy is very special to us. He's the kitty who sleeps on my pillow or curled
up against me every night and has for about ten years. He's also a nursemaid
cat who parents new kittens that come into our household. When he was
hospitalized for three nights after the saddle thrombus, I cried myself to sleep
each night. He was hale and hearty until December 2009 when it seemed
everything surfaced at once, despite very regular senior wellness care (he's
      about 15 years old).

We're trying our best to find the right balance between the need to test for and
resolve his problems and his need to have good quality of life. He's up against
multiple tough issues but we aren't giving up on him. The vets we work with are
wonderful - they have helped us through some difficult times with our brood -
and I wish I could share them with everyone.

The best clinical news I have tonight is that we haven't had any evidence of
larger (grand mal) or smaller (petit mal) seizures since this morning. We hear
back tomorrow about his clotting time so I'll have a chance to talk again with
his vet then. I'll keep everyone up to date!

      Liz and Brandy
