- About a week before April threw a clot and died, she began to sit up sometimes and just stay there in that position. How I wish we knew that was a sign (we never knew she had HCM till she died.) She would stay in that position for several minutes.
However, I dont think that it is always a bad sign. As an example, Beanie who is healthy and without HCM sometimes does the same thing when she cleans herself. SO I had never thought it was a sign.
BTW 3 more signs that I wanted to mention:
Scanning the environment more than usual. April had started to do that a month before it happened. As I understand it, cats become feareful they will become kicked out of the colony so they become defensive. She had NEVER done that before.
Laying in odd places. - Her last weekend, April spend much of her time laying on top of a tiny DVD player that was on top of a cabinet. It was odd since she always would love to stay on the bed. And there wasnt much room for her to lay on it and I am sure it was uncomfortable.
Turning away. When April was laying there she tilted her body away from us as if she was saying leave me alone.
I still feel sad 18 months later. We didnt think of it as being sick.
