Re: [FH] Nikko - question
- I don't believe my heart kitty ever had open-mouth breathing. I would be worried about that. When she had fluid in her lungs, her breathing was labored, it almost looked shuttered, if that makes any sense, it is hard to describe. Like it wasn't very smooth at all.
I would maybe check the breathing rate and then call the cardio -- at least try to talk to a vet tech there to see what they suggest. What you don't want to have happen is an emergency at midnight when only the ER vet is open, because they really aren't experienced with heart conditions, at least most of the time.
Let us know how Nikko is doing, please.

Subject: [FH] Nikko - question
My Nikko who has HCM, CHF and CRF seems a little off today. He seems lathergic, and he is hiding behind the couch again. He did this before and that's when I found out he was in CHF.
He has an appointment tomorrow with his cardiologist. I called to see if I could bring him in today but his Dr. is not there and I hate to take him to someone new there if I don't need to.
When he is sleeping should he be breathing with his mouth open? I should know that because I work in respiratory but I'm not sure. His breathing seems a little off although it doesn't seem to fast. Not really sure what's going on if anything or if it's just my imagination.
Just wanted to get other opinions.
Thanks so much,
Linda, Nikko and furgang missing angel's Meka, Stichie, Lucy
