Why can't my cat lie down or sleep?
- My cat hasn't been able to lie on his side or rest his head for
several weeks and it seems he is not getting much sleep in the Sphinx
position all the time.
Could this be because of having CHF or pleural effusion? AFter he had
his chest tapped he seeemed to lay his head on his arms one night but
not after the first day or so....and the cardiologist confirmed that
some fluid was returning to the area even tho it was only 2 days after
the tap. Now he seems to barely rest with his eyes closed but he is
What can be done for cats with this problem? Anyone?
I feel so sorry for him....
- It is probable that your kitty is unable to lie down comfortably because of the fluid in his chest. When a kitty is retaining fluid, it is uncomfortable for them to lie down and hard for them to breathe. Your kitty may need additional diuretics to help with the fluid retention or another chest tap. Has your kitty seen a cardiologist? If so, your cardio(or regular vet) should be able to help with this. If your kitty is having this much trouble, you should take him in asap to the vet's.
