      Hi All,
I am the one whose cat had emergency surgery slightly over a week ago
for 6 kidney stones. Bobo came home a week ago Sunday and had been
      doing very, very well.
In the last 24 hrs he has been urinating quite a bit (in his box
though)........they had tested his kidneys when he was in for surgery
and they said his kidneys were fine.
He was supposed to be on antibiotics for 7 days and I actually had
him on them for 9 days til I read the box again. So I skipped last
night's dose and this mornings. He has not eaten since last night and
even then he did not eat much. He did not eat this morning or tonight.
I called the vet and they told me to resume the antibiotics that
possibly he had an infection that did not clear up. I gave him a dose
at 2 and they told me I could give him another dose around 11pm.
We had to borrow the $1400 from my brother for his emergency surgery
and we cannot afford at all any more surgery (and my brother went
berserk when we borrowed the original amount and I cannot borrow from
him again)..........I am terrified. My fiancee does not get paid til
Tuesday and the emergency clinic will not take checks. My only hope
is when I take him to get his stitches out maybe I will take him to
the regular vet and maybe they will take a post dated check but I
doubt it. I am a wreck wondering what could be wrong. They said they
left one kidney stone in but that it could take years to
move.......he really urinated quite a bit last night and this
afternoon.......my cat is a very food motivated cat and this has me
      very, very upset.
Any advice would be quite welcome and most appreciated......Thank
      you! Caren and Bobo

Hi Caren, Is he running a temp? It would be the first thing that I would check and then you can get a dip stick to check his urine....ask your vet about it.

I know how it is with the money. I've had to depend on my credit cards
in the past at various times for emergencies; what else could I do...I
sure didn't feel that it was an option not to get the necessary med
attention for my pusscat....it's crazy for some so many people "out
there" to think that we could do any other way; they're like my
children! I know it's hard but hang in there. I think I'd try to first
rule out an infection. Our Bearcat once had a uti that took 3 wks on
antibiotics to cure.....so don't give up!

        Keep us posted.

Hi Caren, I guess that from your last message I thought that Bobo was doing better.....have you taken him to the cardio vet yet? It is absolutely imperative

          Hi Caren,

I guess that from your last message I thought that Bobo was doing
better.....have you taken him to the cardio vet yet? It is absolutely
imperative that you do so.......is he currently being attended by an
Internal Medicine specialist? You say below that he's on other meds
besides the appetite stimulant.....but then you say only atenolol and
that they stopped the carafate....what was that for?

If you have not taken him to the cardio vet you must do so right
          away......it's extremely important.........

I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time. It can all be very
difficult at times, I know...........having the right vet you know and
trust can take a huge load off your shoulders...........

          Linda

          Hi Linda.......
thanks for the info......they had put Bobo on an appetite stimulant and
some other meds.........they stopped the carafate because he was
          constantly throwing up.
My huge concern is that without the appetite stimulant I am sure he
would not be eating.........right now he is only on that and the
atenolol............he is very much not himself.......I am at my wits
end not knowing what to do. He was tested and all tested well........I
think he tested everything but his stool..........I am hugely concerned.
Hope you had a great New Year........
Don't know if I told you but my fiancee's Mom passed away on New Years
          Eve Day.........I am beat...........the funeral was today..........I
hope I didn't already tell you this!
          Be well! Caren and Bobo
