      Hi Lynda,

Has the urine been checked for infection (bacteria) or other indicators
(blood, WBC, RBC, pH, protein, etc)?

Cystocentesis is the best way to get a *sterile* sample, which is useful when
looking for bacteria. However, if that is too stressful or there is another
problem with doing it, it is often acceptable to bring in a clean catch for the
initial urinalysis (the sample should be submitted fairly soon after the
catch). If bacteria is found and the symptoms persist after an initial course of
antibiotics, then you can follow up with sterile sample for a culture +
      sensitivity. // Rosemary
